Heejoon Lee
Heejoon Lee (b.1988, Korean) transfers the images he gathered from the scenes of his life into abstract paintings. From his immediate surroundings to the faraway foreign lands he traveled, these accumulated images of his experience and daily life are collected, edited, and painted by the artist, with the addition of geometric shapes. This composition of instant moments, with the texture of layered paint and time, creates a new space on the canvas. Thus, Lee moves beyond simply recreating his visual experience on canvas toward creating a spatial experience in which the architecture and painting coexist within the frame, for his viewers to inhabit a space the artist has now invited them into. He received his BFA in Painting and Sculpture from Hongik University in 2012 and received his MFA in Fine Arts at Glasgow School of Art in 2014. Selected solo exhibitions include Kumho Museum of Art, Seoul (2023) and Incheon Art Platform, Incheon (2021). Lee has participated in group exhibitions, including Seoul Museum of Art (2024); ARKO Art Center, Seoul (2023); Songeun, Seoul (2023, 2022); and Art Sonje Center, Seoul (2021).
이희준(b.1988)은 삶의 풍경에서 얻은 이미지를 추상 회화로 옮겨 담는다. 그가 사는 아주 가까운 주변부터 먼 타지까지 여행하며 얻은 축적된 경험과 일상의 이미지를 수집, 편집과 붓질을 거쳐 기하학적 형태를 더한다. 구성된 찰나의 이미지들은 켜켜이 쌓아 올린 물감의 질감과 그 시간이 더해져 캔버스 위에 새로운 공간을 그려낸다. 작가는 그리하여 시각적 경험을 추상회화로 전환하며, 회화를 건축과 회화가 공존하는 공간의 경험으로 확장시킨다. 이희준은 현재 서울에서 작업 중이며 2012년 홍익대학교 미술대학 회화과와 조소과를 졸업하고 2014년 영국 글래스고 예술대학교에서 순수미술 석사 학위를 받았다. 주요 개인전으로 금호미술관(2023), 인천아트플랫폼(2021) 등이 있으며, 이외에도 서울시립미술관(2024), 아르코미술관(2023), 송은미술대상(2023), 아트선재센터(2021) 등 국내 유수 기관과 해외에서 다수의 그룹전에 참여하였다. 국립현대미술관 미술은행과 서울시립미술관 등에 주요 작품들이 소장되어 있다.
