김수자는 11월 18일부터 12월 18일까지 Cultuurcentrum Strombeek(이하 Cc Strombeek)에서 개인전 <Kimsooja, Weaving the World>를 개최한다. 브뤼셀에 소재한 Cc Strombeek는 연극, 무용, 음악을 포함하는 공연 예술부터 영화, 시각 미술, 교육 등의 현대예술 프로그램을 제공한다. 이번 전시에서 김수자는 2010년부터 현재까지 이어지는 영상 연작 중 하나인 ‘실의 궤적(Thread Routes)을 상영할 예정으로 전 세계의 직조 문화를 그 지역의 건축과 함께 조망하며 패브릭을 엮는 원초적인 행위에서 인간의 삶의 태도를 살펴 볼 수 있게 한다. 또한 2016년 3월 22일에 일어난 브뤼셀 테러의 희생자들을 위해 제작한 보따리 작업을 선보인다.
Kimsooja will hold a solo exhibition, Kimsooja, Weaving the World, from November 18 to December 18, 2016, at Cultuurcentrum Strombeek (hereafter Cc Strombeek). Located in Brussels, Cc Strombeek presents events such as plays, dance performances, and concerts as a part of their various programs on contemporary arts, including theatre arts, film, visual arts, and education. This exhibition will feature one of Kimsooja’s ongoing film series titled Thread Routes, which the artist began in 2010. In the film, the artist will explore weaving practices from all over the world with each of the region’s characteristic architecture, allowing the viewer to observe different attitudes towards life through this primitive action of weaving fabric. Kim will also showcase a Bottari at the exhibition to commemorate those who passed away at the 2016 Brussels bombings, which took place on March 22.
