이수경은 제3회 자카르타 도자 비엔날레 (이하 JCCB)에 참여한다. JCCB는 현대미술에 직간접적으로 도자기를 활용한 작품들이 점점 다양해지고 있는 점에 주목하여 2009년 처음 개최되었다. 올해 비엔날레의 주제인 “팽창계수”는 도자기를 굽는 과정에 가장 주요하게 작용하는 물리용어에서 따 온 것으로, 도자예술이 전세계적으로 확장되고 있음을 의미한다. 이수경은 이번 비엔날레에 작가의 대표적인 <번역된 도자기>시리즈의 작품을 출품한다.

Kukje Gallery’s Yeesookyung is participating in Jakarta Contemporary Ceramics Biennale (JCCB) held from September 23rd to October 13th. JCCB first began in 2009 in a response to portray the escalation of contemporary art activities of object-based works and sculptures using ceramics as either a main medium or as an auxiliary element. The title of the current edition, “Coefficient of Expansion”, is derived from a technical term related to a process of ceramic firing. In this exhibition, the term is intended as a metaphor describing the diverse and extensive boundaries of ceramic art. Yeesookyung will show a sculpture from her Translated Vase series.
