김수자는 벨기에 앤트워프 악셀 벨부르트 개인전을 갖는다. 이번 개인전에서 김수자는 2012년부터 지속된 <실의 궤적> 연작중 신작 <실의 궤적 – 챕터 3 Thread Routes – Chapter III>을 선보인다. 이번 전시에 출품되는 작품은 김수자 작가가 처음으로 16mm 필름을 사용하여 만든 영상 작업 중 세 번째 챕터에 해당하며 페루 마추피추의 직물 공예, 벨기에 브뤼게 지역에서 행해지는 전통적인 레이스 짜기와 그 행위에들에서 영감을 받아 지역적 관습과 문화를 반추하는 연작으로 진행되어왔다. 특히 이번 세 번째 작업은 인도 구자라에서 촬영 되었으며, 향후 다양하고 이국적인 문화를 탐구하며 그 지역적 관습에 따른 직물, 물리적 구조, 인간의 내적인 욕망과 연결되는 총체적인 여정을 기록할 예정이다.

Kimsooja is having a solo exhibition in Axel Vervoordt Gallery in Antwerp, Belgium. In this solo exhibition, Kimsooja presents Thread Routes - III (2012) from her Thread Routes series. This particular work shown in this exhibit is the third chapter from the series, where the artist has used 160-mm film for the first time. Each chapter was shot in a different part of the world, such as textile culture in Machu Picchu, Peru and traditional lace making in Bruges, Belgium. Inspired by these practices, the artist has created the series ruminating on the local custom and culture. In particular, this third chapter was filmed in Gusara, India, and the artist will continue to explore diverse exotic cultures and document the whole journey that connects the textile culture, its physical structure, and inner desires of human to the local customs.
