이수경, 타이완에서 그룹전 참여

이수경은 이번 여름 7월부터 두 달 동안 대만에서 열리는 <강-전환하는 생존의 길> 그룹전에 참여한다. 광주미술관이 공동주최한 이번 전시는 강이 가진 순환성, 생명의 근원, 산업화로 인한 파괴라는 특징들을 아시아의 문화와 역사로 확장하여 급격한 산업화로 야기된 사회적 변화들을 돌아보는 기회를 마련한다. 대만, 한국, 독일 등 전세계에서 초대된 작가들은 각각 ‘강의 이야기’, ‘물의 메타포’, ‘환경과 도시’, ‘곳곳을 이동하다’ 라는 4가지 주제를 바탕으로 작품을 선보이고, 레지던스 프로그램과 워크샵 등 다양한 프로그램들을 통해 아시아 국가들이 경험한 사회와 자연의 문제들에 대해 심도 있는 논의를 진행할 예정이다. 이수경은 이번 전시에 비디오 설치작품인 “환상의 섬”(2004)을 전시하며 동서양 문화의 만남이 야기한 자연과 사회의 변화들에 대해 증언한다.

Yeesookyung is participating in a group exhibition Rivers – The way of Living in Transition at Pier-2 Art Center in Taiwan this summer. Co-organized by Gwangju Museum of Art, this exhibition originates its theme regarding the river-circulation, essence of life, destruction caused by industrialization-and expands this theme onto Asian culture and history to look back on the common changes that Asian countries have undergone through due to the rapid industrialization. Artists from around the world including Taiwan, South Korea, and Germany present their works in 4 topics: ‘Stories of Rivers’, ‘Metaphor of Water’, ‘Environment & Urbanization’ and ‘Moving from a Place to Another’. Along with the exhibition, residency program, workshops and talk events will be provided to share their researches and thoughts on local environment and social matters under the globalization. Yeesookyung’s Island Adventure(2004), a video installation, will be presented to testify against natural and social changes after the encounter between East and West.
