김기라는 <올해의 작가상 2015>전에 참여할 후보작가 4인에 선정되었다. 국립현대미술관 서울관에서 8월부터 11월까지 개최되는 <올해의 작가상 2015>전은 전시기간 동안 최종 심사를 거쳐 ‘2015 올해의 작가’ 1인이 선정되는 연례행사이다. 김기라는 이번 전시에서 ‘플로팅 빌리지’를 주제로 대한민국의 사회문화적 개념이 함축된 합성어를 대입한 <이념의 무게-한낮의 어둠>(2014), <붉은 수레바퀴>(2015), <떠다니는 마을>(2015)등의 영상 작업을 선보인다. 이는 현 자본주의 사회의 단면, 갈등, 대립, 충돌에 대한 주제를 작가적 관점에서 풀어낸바 있다.

Kira Kim has been selected as one of four finalists who will exhibit at "Korea Artist Prize 2015." Open from August to November, "Korea Artist Prize 2015" organized by the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, Korea is an annual event that selects the final "2015 Artist of the Year" during the run of the show. Under the theme of "Floating Village," Kira Kim presents various video installations, such as Weight of Ideology–Darkness at Noon(2014), Red Wheel(2015), and Floating Village(2015), that unravel the issue of collision, conflict and opposition within the frame of socio-cultural aspect of our society.
