국제갤러리 양혜규 작가는 중국 베이징의 울렌스 현대미술센터(이하 UCCA)에서 개인전 <양혜규:우기청호雨奇晴好>를 갖는다. 이번 전시는 작가의 첫 번째 중화권 미술관 개인전으로, 중국의 저명한 시인 소식(蘇軾, 1036-1101)이 지은 시에서 전시제목을 차용하였다. 작가는 비 올 때의 경치가 기이하여 운치가 있으나 갠 후의 경치도 좋다고 풀이되는 시에서, 온화한 자연 풍경과 변화하는 계절의 정경에 대한 흔들리지 않는 강인한 감성에 주목하며 전시를 서로 다른 언어와 다양한 형식을 띤 작업들로 가득 채운다. 이 전시에는 <유덕有德한 먹을거리 – 정情 그리고 인仁>(2015)과 <솔 르윗 뒤집기> 연작을 비롯한 대규모 신작과 주요 구작들이 소개되어 환상과 현실, 미학적인 것과 지성적인 것의 경계를 초월하는 다양성의 풍경을 선보일 예정이다.
Haegue Yang's solo exhibition titled "Haegue Yang: Come Shower or Shine, It Is Equally Blissful" at Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA) in Beijing will mark her first solo exhibition at a Chinese art institution. In reference to an idiom found in the poem “Drinking on the Lake when it Shines after the Rains” by the Northern Song scholar Su Shi (蘇軾, 1036-1101), the exhibition’s title establishes a parallel between the narrated irresistible ‘good mood’ despite constant shifts in nature and Yang’s desired interpretation of it, namely a kind of optimism or generosity towards growing diversities in our world. Large-scale new works and major older works including Virtuous Edibles – Affection and Benevolence (2015) and the Sol LeWitt Upside Down series in themes that transcend the borders between fantasy and reality, aesthetics and intelligence.
