국제갤러리 이수경은 프랑스 파리에서 열리는 <2016 아트파리 아트페어>에서 3월 31일과 4월 2일 양일간 퍼포먼스를 개최한다. 올해로 17주년을 맞이한 올해 아트파리 아트페어는 한-불 수교 130주년을 기념, 한국을 주빈국으로 맞이하여 한국의 현대 미술 작가들을 소개하는 다양한 프로그램을 마련한다. 이 중 <퍼포먼스>섹션은 “의식 Ritual”을 테마로 한국의 예술적 창작물과 종교적 의식의 관계를 조명하는 작업들을 보여줄 예정이며, 이수경은 작년 대구미술관에서 소개했던 <내가 너였을 때 When I Become You>를 선보인다. 한국의 춤을 화려한 크리스탈 샹들리에와 조화시킨 이 퍼포먼스는 자아와 타아, 현실과 환상, 의식과 무의식 등 모순되는 가치들이 서로 어떻게 연관되어 있는지를 보여주며, 전통적인 소재들을 현대적인 감각으로 해석해 온 이수경만의 작품세계를 드러낸다.
On March 31 and April 2, 2016, Yeesookyung will perform at the 2016 Art Paris Art Fair in Paris, France. In association with the 2015-2016 France-Korea Year, diverse programs are prepared to introduce Korean contemporary artists for this 17th Art Paris Art Fair, where South Korea is the guest of honor. Under the theme of “Rituals”, the Performances section seeks to explore the relationship between artistic creation and the notion of the ritual in Korea. Yeesookyung will present When I Become You, a performance that harmonizes traditional Korean dance with brilliant crystal chandeliers. This performance was shown at Daegu Museum last year, depicting the relationship between the self and the other, perfection and imperfection, the conscious and the unconscious, and the real and the virtual. Through this piece, viewers will be able to appreciate Yeesookyung’s artistic world of reinterpreting traditional subjects in a modern fashion.
