국제갤러리 정연두는 프랑스 툴루즈 메종 살방 아트센터에서 4월 9일부터 30일까지 개인전 <Hors la foule>을 개최한다. 한불수교 130주년을 기념하여 프랑스 남서부 미디피레네 지역의 한불연합회의 협력으로 기획된 이 전시는 사진이라는 매체로 개인의 기억을 환상적인 이미지로 치환해 온 정연두의 세 가지 프로젝트를 주목하여 선보인다. 각각 개인의 소중한 기억과 그것을 정교하게 재현한 두 개의 비디오를 병치시킨 <수공기억>, 20세기 초 서울의 모습을 재현한 모형세트를 디오라마로 촬영하여 재구성한 <구보씨의 일일>, 그리고 맹인이 일상에서 오가는 거리의 모습을 촬영한 사진을 슬라이드쇼로 구성한 <Wild Goose Chase>는 현실과 비현실, 진짜와 가짜의 경계를 넘나들며 개인의‘시각’이라는 시점을 확장해 온 정연두의 작품세계를 보여줄 것이다.

Yeondoo Jung holds the solo exhibition Hors le foule at La Maison Salvan in Toulouse, France, from April 9 to April 30, 2016. In celebration of 130 years of friendship and diplomacy between France and Korea, the exhibition, in partnership with the Franco-Korean Association of Midi-Pyrenees, presents three projects from Yeondoo Jung. Jung, whose works have centered on substituting personal memories for extraordinary images through photography, exhibits Handmade Memories, two videos played side by side containing reproduced personal memories from diverse individuals, A day in the life of Gubo, a model reconstruction of Seoul from the early 20th century filmed through a diorama, and Wild Goose Chase, a photography slideshow centered on a blind person’s life. Jung displays his personal artistic perspective that moves through the borderline of fantasy, and real and unreal.
