홍콩을 기반으로 하는 비영리 기관 아시아 아트 아카이브는 (Asia Art Archive) 지난 11월 19일 애뉴얼 펀드레이징2016을 개최하여 75여개의 작품을 컬렉터들에게 선보였다. 매년 기관 운영의 자금을 마련하기 위해 갤러리 및 작가들에게 기부를 받아 옥션을 진행하며, 올해 국제갤러리는 최재은과 마이클 주의 작품을 기증하였다. 광학 망원경을 제작하는데 사용되는 기술을 이용해 경찰 방패를 연상시키는 알루미늄 글라스로 만든 마이클 주의 ‘Untitled’ (2014)과 최재은 작가가 모은 오래된 종이와 월 텍스트로 구성된 ‘Paper Poem’ (2012)이 높은 가격에 낙찰되었다.
The Hong Kong-based nonprofit organization Asia Art Archive (hereafter AAA) held its AAA Annual Fundraiser 2016, showcasing 75 works of art to collectors. This annual auction event is organized with donations from galleries and artists, which in turn prepares funds for the organization’s upcoming year. This year, Kukje Gallery donated works by Michael Joo and Jae-Eun Choi. Joo’s Untitled (2014) is a low-iron glass sculpture reminiscent of a riot shield, produced with the optical technology used for manufacturing telescopes, while Choi’s Paper Poem (2012) is an arrangement of old pieces of paper and wall texts the artist collected over the years. Both works were sold for high bids.
