양혜규는 12월 10일부터 4월 30일까지 스트라스부르에 위치한 근현대미술관 및 복합전시공간 오베트 1928에서 개최되는 그룹전 에 참여한다. 이번 전시는 1920년대의 예술적 건축적 아방가르드 운동에 대한 동시대미술가들의 반응으로 양혜규를 비롯한 10여명의 작가들의 작품들을 5개의 섹션으로 나누어 전시할 예정이다. 미셸 푸코가 제시한 ‘헤테로토피아’에서 차용한 전시명은 유토피아와 대비되는 현실화된 유토피아라 이야기된다. 모더니즘에 주요한 이념들이 현시대에도 영향을 가하는 유효한 현재성을 이번 전시의 작품들을 통해서 재평가할 수 있다. 양혜규는 기하학적 형태의 조각 시리즈 을 선보인다.
Haegue Yang will participate in a group exhibition titled Heterotopias. Avant-gardes in Contemporary Art (hereafter Heterotopias) at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art and the multidisciplinary exhibition space Aubette 1928 in Strasbourg, France from December 10, 2016 to April 30, 2017. This exhibition is divided into five sections and will display the reaction of over ten contemporary artists, including that of Yang, to the artistic, architectural avant-garde movement of the 1920s. The title Heterotopias, a concept borrowed from the French philosopher Michel Foucault, highlights the contrast between utopias in both fictional and unsentimental ways. This exhibition will reassess the relevance and effect of core modernist ideologies in contemporary society. Yang will exhibit her geometric sculpture series Sonic Rotating Geometries Type D-Nickel Plated #16, #17, #18, #19 (2013).
