Works by Roni Horn, Donald Judd, and Jenny Holzer will be featured in T E X T, a group exhibition taking place from September 15, 2016, to May 14, 2017, at the National Gallery of Iceland in Reykjavik. The exhibition will show a selection of text-based artworks by fifty Icelandic and prominent international visual artists. These works belong to the private collection of Reykjavik and Berlin-based collectors Pétur Arason and Ragna Róbertsdóttir, who began their collection in the early 1960s. Pétur Arason and Ragna Róbertsdóttir have close relationships with many of the artists they collect, including the New York and Reykjavik-based Roni Horn. They were also close colleagues with Donald Judd, one of the most prominent artists of 20th century America. These connections have allowed for Icelandic artists to interact with their international colleagues, playing a major role in Iceland’s dynamic art scene.
