국제갤러리의 김소라는 2017년 2월 15일에 아트선재센터에서 열리는 작가 사라 반 더 하이데 (Sara van der Heide)의 『독일평양문화원 (The German Library Pyongyang)』 출간 기념 토크에 참여한다. 사라 반 더 하이데는 2015년 광저우 트리엔날레를 맞이하여 중국 광저우에 위치한 독일문화원의 도서관을 <독일평양문화원>으로 변모시켜, 2004년부터 2009까지 북한에 있었던 독일문화원 (Goethe-Institut) 도서관을 재구성하면서 독일과 남북한이 모두 겪은 평행한 분단의 역사들을 조명한다. 이 프로젝트와 연계되어 출판된 『독일평양문화원』은 한국어, 영어, 중국어, 그리고 독일어로 된 네 개의 전시 소책자들을 함께 묶은 것이다. 2016년 상반기 아트선재센터의 <커넥트 1: 스틸 액츠>전에 참여하여 1층 공간에서 <라이브러리 프로젝트 (2004)> 를 선보인 김소라는 사라 반 더 하이데와 <독일평양문화원> 작업에 협업한 바 있다. 또한 이 프로젝트에는 5월에 국제갤러리에서 개인전을 개최할 예정인 영화감독이자, 작가, 기획자, 평론가로 전방위적인 활동을 이어가고 있는 박찬경도 참여하였다.
Sora Kim will participate in a book launch for Sara van der Heide’s The German Library Pyongyang, which will take place at Art Sonje Center on February 15, 2017. During the 5th Guangzhou Triennial in 2015, van der Heide reenacted a library initiative of the Goethe-Institut that was originally operated North Korea between 2004 and 2009. Titled The German Library Pyongyang, this installation transformed the geography of Guangzhou’s German Library, which is affiliated to the Goethe-Institut, and was critical toward the parallel histories of Germany and the two Koreas. The collateral publication for this project brings together the four original exhibition booklets in English, Korean, Chinese, and German. Sora Kim, who participated in the group exhibition titled Connect 1: Still Acts at Art Sonje Center last year and showcased her ‘Library Project (2004)’ on the 1st floor, will participate in the book launch as a contributor for van der Heide’s project. Park Chan-kyong, an innovative film director, artist, writer, and curator who will hold a solo exhibition at Kukje Gallery in May, has also contributed to the project.
