Julian Opie participates in Deep Cuts: Contemporary Paper Cutting, a group exhibition taking place from February 25 to May 21 at the Currier Art Museum in Manchester, New Hampshire, USA. This exhibition showcases works by thirty-six contemporary artists who reconsider, redefine and subvert the centuries-old practice of paper cutting. In the tradition of the craft, the art to be featured in the exhibition is imposing and intricate, but its subject matter is updated for the 21st century. Addressing personal or social themes, the prints, installations, and sculptures displayed will touch upon complex reference points including the various cultural, economic and environmental associations imbued in the simple and seemingly hackneyed medium of paper. Julian Opie exhibits Luc and Ludivine Get Married 11 (2007), one of sixteen laser-cut paper portraits from the full face and profile angle.
