폴 매카시, Marciano Art Foundation 개관전 참여 | KUKJE GALLERY

국제갤러리의 폴 매카시는 미국 로스앤젤레스에 위치한 마르시아노 아트 파운데이션(Marciano Art Foundation)에서 5월 25일부터 12월 24일까지 개최되는 개관전 《Unpacking: The Marciano Collection》에 참여한다. 마르시아노 아트 파운데이션은 세계적인 데님패션브랜드 GUESS.?의 창립자이자 컬렉터인 Maurice와 Paul Marciano가 공동으로 설립한 전시공간이다. 이번 전시는 재단 소유의 소장품들로 구성되었으며, 1,500 여 점이 넘는 작품 중 세계적으로 활동하며 현대미술 무대에서 자신만의 뚜렷한 목소리를 내며 독창적인 활동을 이어나가고 있는 작가들이 참여 명단에 이름을 올렸다. 이번 전시의 기획을 맡은 로스앤젤레스 현대미술관(Museum of Contemporary Art) 의 총괄 큐레이터 Paul Kaiser는 폭넓고 깊이 있는 마르시아노 컬렉션을 선보이며 자유로운 배치방식을 취하며 그에 따라 파생된 복합적인 의미와 전시 장소의 역사성이 충돌을 일으키며 예상치 못한 연결고리를 만들어낸다. 이번 전시에서 폴 매카시는 조각작품 (2012-2013)와 (2013)를 선보인다.

Works by Paul McCarthy are featured in Unpacking: The Marciano Collection, an inaugural group exhibition at the Marciano Art Foundation in Los Angeles from May 25 to December 24, 2017. The Marciano Art Foundation is the exhibition space of brothers Maurice and Paul Marciano, art collectors and founders of the world-renowned denim attire brand GUESS?. Drawn entirely from the collection that houses over 1,500 works of art, the exhibition brings together an international roster of artists who are among contemporary art’s leading creative and critical voices. Curated by Paul Kaiser, the Chief Curator of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, the exhibition showcases the breadth and depth of the collection while simultaneously creating a loose order where a multitude of meanings collide with a historic site, exposing unpredictable connections. The installation includes Paul McCarthy’s sculptures White Snow Head (2012-2013) and White Snow, Balloon Dog (2013).
