전시개요:
국제갤러리의 신미경 작가는 미국 뉴욕 아트디자인 박물관(Museum of Arts and Design)에서 열린 <코리안 아이: 에너지와 물질 Korean Eye: Energy and Matter> 전에 참여한다. SC제일은행의 지주회사인 스탠다드차타드가 지난 3년 동안 후원한 <코리안 아이 Korean Eye> 전시는 한국과 한국의 현대미술을 국제 무대에 소개하는 기회가 되어 왔다.
이번 전시에서 신미경 작가는 역사적 유물이나 예술 작품이 기존의 배경에서 벗어나 완전히 새로운 환경으로 이동되었을 때의 ‘번역’ 과정을 다룬 를 선보였다. 이외에도 21명의 작가가 참여하여, 사진, 그림, 영상, 혼합매체 작품 등을 통해 한국 현대 미술의 철학적, 미학적 면모를 소개하며 참여작가들의 작품을 통해 폭넓은 영역의 새로운 재료들을 탐색하고 이를 어떻게 창의적인 테크닉으로 결합하는지 살펴볼 수 있다.
지난 11월 1일 시작한 <코리안 아이: 에너지와 물질 Korean Eye: Energy and Matter> 전시는 내년 2월 19일까지 계속된다.

Kukje Gallery is pleased to announce Shin Meekyoung’s participation in Korean Eye: Energy and Matter, presented by the Museum of Arts and Design in New York. This exhibition, which has been sponsored for 3 years by Standard Charters, will be a unique occasion that introduces contemporary Korean art scene to an international audience.
For this occasion, Shin is showcasing her Translation series, wherein she examines the “translation” that takes place when a historical artifact or a work of art is displaced from its original environment. The exhibition brings together 21 emerging and established Korean artists from various disciplines including photography, painting, video, and mixed media. Through combining together diverse media, the exhibition introduces the contemporary Korean philosophical and aesthetic trajectory, examines the breadth of materials, and finally how innovative technique is used to realize those ideas.
Korean Eye: Energy and Matter, which opened on November 1st, continues until February 19th of next year.
