For Our Country (2019), a memorial designed in collaboration of the Australian artist Daniel Boyd and the Melbourne-based architecture studio Edition Office, has received accolades at the 2020 ACT Architecture Awards by winning across four different categories. Organized by the Australian Institute of Architects, the ACT Architecture Awards recognizes architectural achievements in categories such as public architecture, residential, commercial, education, and sustainability. For Our Country won the esteemed Canberra Medallion along with the Cynthia Breheny Award for Small Project Architecture, the Pamille Berg Award for Art in Architecture, and the Robert Foster Award for Light in Architecture.

The memorial, which is currently installed in the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, commemorates the services of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders who sacrificed for their country. The thousands of transparent lenses set throughout the wall represent multiple perspectives that interpret history, while the reflections of light express the spiritual integrity and pride that the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders hold in connection to their country. In regards to the nomination, Australian Institute of Architects ACT Jury Chair, Marcus Graham, remarked: “Physically small, but carrying an enormous weight of significance, For Our Country reflects honestly upon a complex history, and looks forward to greater cultural understanding.” The awards ceremony, which was held virtually via Youtube due to the impact of COVID-19 and social distancing restrictions, gave recognition to a total of 43 recipients across 14 categories.

호주 출신 작가 다니엘 보이드(Daniel Boyd)와 멜버른 건축사무소 에디션 오피스(Edition Office)의 기념비 조각 <For Our Country>(2019)가 ACT Architecture Awards 2020에서 4개 부문을 수상했다. <For Our Country>는 최고 권위의 상인 ‘Canberra Medallion’을 비롯하여 소규모 건축물을 대상으로 하는 ‘The Cynthia Breheny Award for Small Project’, 건축과 예술이 훌륭하게 결합된 작품에 수여하는 ‘The Pamille Berg Award for Art in Architecture’, 빛을 활용한 건축물을 선정하는 ‘The Robert Foster Award for light in Architecture’를 수상했다.
